When I first heard the band on No Seattle compilation, I thought of it as a power pop act, but after purchasing their full length and these 2 singles it is clear they were mostly inspired the by jangle-ish pop movement from the late ’80s, backed by a big dose of quirky indie rock and a voice that reminds me a little bit of Dharma Bums’ singer. Also, worth mentioning Damon Romero’s (Treeehouse guitarist and vocalist) newest band called Jaguar Paw. Members went on to play in bands such as Engine 54, Bell, Lemonade and Starfish. 33rpm Bandthey are oldies, or rare Punk recordings or very recent music band releases. The Laguna 18BX Bandsaw weighs about 440 pounds with a dimension of 81 x 33. They released one more single in ’92 and they called it quits. I bought a new Laguna 14BX band saw and have hooked up two 4 inch hose. In ’91 the band released their only full length “Courtesy Laugh”, produced by Steve Fisk. And since my record player doesn’t have an automatic feature for speed switching, I’ve digitized only the 33 rpm sides for now. They released their first single, “Wild Medication”, the same year on John Atkins’ (Seaweed’s bass player) label Leopard Gecko. Treehouse was a band from Olympia that formed around ’89. The full albums are long deleted from youtube channels – most likely due to the new terms – but two songs that stuck with me after the first listening were “Take Me For A Ride” by Yellow Snow and “Debbie Had A Dream” by Treehouse. At the Wise Hall in 1997 we presented Australias legendary folk band The Bushwackers - a sort of southern hemisphere Dubliners - with Vancouvers English. An essential release for grunge diggers, I must add, which to my shame I don’t own yet. A few years back Soul Jazz Records, a London-based label, released 2 compilations called “No Seattle – Forgotten Sounds Of The North-West Grunge Era 1986-97”.
